President's message

Anitha Harshan

Namaskaram! I am very glad to greet you all for the year 2008. I am very proud to be an office-bearer of this association, which has served for more than 25 years in the state of Colorado. This association has helped the community in observing the rich heritage and culture of Kerala in this great nation. In this context, I would like to recognize the people who have helped over the years in building a strong foundation for the association. This association stands out as the symbol of Keralites in the state of Colorado. We must keep our eminent heritage and cultural values and let us work together for the benefit of the community and the communities we live in at large.

Our events spread general awareness about Kerala and its glorious culture amongst the communities here in Colorado. Kerala Association has grown in strength and there has been a subsequent increase in its capacity to fulfill its goals with greater fervor and enthusiasm. Kerala Association, since its inception has grown in leaps and bounds. It is the events and activities we organize that help to bring us together as a community.

The year 2007 was a very successful year in terms of the events held by Kerala Association. The Indian Dance Festival has turned out to be the biggest Indian cultural event in Colorado for the year 2007. Not only had Divya Unni performed for the event, but also we were able to showcase the most variety of Indian cultural dance forms ever in 2007. Last year we also had a very good Onam and Christmas events. In 2006 for the first time the events held by Kerala Association were telecast in Asianet and Kairali TV channels. The committee, performers, members and the volunteers have contributed significantly for the success of the 2007 events, but one man stands out among all and that is Thomas Muckom. Without his help we would not have achieved the same kind of success. I am very thankful to the committee of 2007 and each and everyone who have contributed to the success for the year 2007.

I look forward to the year 2008 with greater anticipation and I am very pleased to have very supportive committee who would help me to steer the events for the year 2008 to a great success. This year we plan on stepping up our community services by partnering with other voluntary organizations in Colorado. We anticipate more and more participation and can be achieved with your support. I am looking forward for your whole hearted support for the events and activities of the association for the year 2008.

Please send us your feedback to improve our programs. We sincerely appreciate your time and look forward to your support.
With Regards,
Anitha Harshan
(President, Kerala Association of Colorado)
